Kyrgyzstan, formally known as the Kyrgyz Republic is a beautiful country located in Central Asia. Kyrgyzstan is known for its natural beauty and varied traditions. Kyrgyz Republic is a landlocked country, covered by mountains sharing its borders with Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the southwest and China to the southeast. The capital of Kyrgyzstan is Bishkek which is the largest city of in the country. Bishkek covers a total area of 49 square miles with an estimated population of about 1,250,000. Kyrgyzstan was occupied by Russia in 1876 and in the year 1991, the country successfully achieved its independence from the Soviet Union.

Islam is the dominant religion that is practised in Kyrgyzstan. Although the country is a secular state, Islam has exerted growing influence in politics. 80% of the population is Muslim, while 17% follow Russian Orthodoxy and 3% other religions.
Football is the most popular sport in Kyrgyzstan. The official governing body is the football federation of Kyrgyzstan Republic. Wrestling, Ice hockey, The Kyrgyz national team took Kyrgyzstan’s first medal at the Asian Winter Games.
Kyrgyzstan has a continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. In the lowlands, the temperature ranges from around -6°C (21°F) in January to 24°C (75°F) in July. In the low-lying Fergana Valley of the south temperatures may peak as high as the low 40s in summer.
The flag features a yellow tunduk with 40 rays of sun spiralling around it on a red background. The tunduk is traditionally the circular top portion of a yurt and symbolizes the home and the universe. The rays of the sun represent the 40 tribes of Kyrgyzstan.
